Mini bio

How it started.

Amy’s interest in nutrition is personal. In an interview, she described coming to the United States at five and seeing her father and grandmother develop type 2 diabetes in their thirties. She studied nutrition at Cornell before medical school at Albert Einstein, followed by residency at Beth Israel Deaconess and an allergy and immunology fellowship at Columbia.

A turning point.

While balancing medical work and motherhood, Amy experienced exhaustion and a car accident that made her reconsider how she was living. She has described that experience as the wake-up call behind her focus on burnout, nutrition, and everyday wellbeing.

From practice to books and podcasts.

Her first book, I’m So Effing Tired, arrived in 2021. She followed it with I’m So Effing Hungry in 2023, expanding her work on hunger and the gut-brain connection. Alongside AmyMD Wellness and her social channels, Save Yourself gives her space for both expert interviews and personal reflections. Her 2026 book, Hormone Havoc, focuses on perimenopause and menopause.
