Mini bio

How it started.

Raquel grew up in El Platanal, Michoacán. In her YouTube bio, she recalls standing on a chair at age seven to cook for her siblings and her busy mother. Their enjoyment of her food, along with encouragement from her grandmothers, kept her experimenting in the kitchen.

Finding her audience.

Her children encouraged her to open a TikTok account, she told Univision. The short early videos took some getting used to: she worried that a minute would not leave enough time to explain a recipe. By April 2024, Univision reported that her traditional Mexican cooking had brought her more than seven million TikTok followers.

Recipes and everyday life.

Her videos bring viewers along for meals and the work around them: picking figs, baking, tending a vegetable garden and gathering firewood. In 2026 she began sharing the restoration of a newly purchased family ranch, Rancho Los Laureles, alongside her cooking.
