Mini bio

How it started.

Andrew began coding around age six. His father, a doctor researching AI for diagnosis, introduced him to neural networks and expert systems. As a teenager in Singapore, an office internship full of photocopying made him imagine automating repetitive work.

The classroom grew.

Before his 2011 Stanford machine learning course reached over 100,000 learners, Andrew had already experimented with five online education sites. He co-founded Coursera with Daphne Koller in 2012, then founded DeepLearning.AI in 2017.

Research meets teaching.

Andrew was the founding lead of Google Brain and later served as Baidu’s chief scientist. His work now brings AI training together with building businesses through ventures including AI Fund and LandingAI. Fans can keep learning alongside him through courses and his letters in The Batch.
