Mini bio

A writer from the start.

Ann told Jay Baer that she wanted to write before she could spell the word, and made a family newsletter as a child. She began her professional career as a journalist and editor.

Finding her way online.

In 1997, she co-founded ClickZ with Andy Bourland, creating a publication about the emerging world of online marketing. The company was acquired in 2000. Ann joined MarketingProfs as Chief Content Officer in 2002.

The books that brought readers in.

Content Rules, written with C.C. Chapman, appeared in 2010. Ann has said it helped establish her and MarketingProfs in content marketing. Everybody Writes followed in 2014 and became a Wall Street Journal bestseller. She returned to it with a revised and expanded second edition in 2022.

A letter from Ann.

Her fortnightly Total Annarchy newsletter took shape in 2018, bringing writing advice together with stories from everyday life. Today she also speaks at business events and helps shape MarketingProfs’ content, voice, and B2B Forum.
