Mini bio
How it started.
Anna grew up in Bari and studied Italian literature and art history before completing a Fashion Design master’s at Domus Academy in 1986. Franca Sozzani became a formative mentor at Vogue Italia. Anna later led L’Uomo Vogue from 2000 to 2006 and moved to Vogue Japan in 2006.
From behind the camera to outside the shows.
Street style gave fans a new way to encounter Anna’s work. Photographs by Scott Schuman helped bring attention to the elaborate outfits from 2006 onward. Magazine styling grew into a public creative identity, AdR, expressed through a blog, social media and fashion collaborations.
Making a world fans could take home.
In 2012, Anna designed H&M accessories, from jewellery and sunglasses to shoes and a trolley suitcase, and starred in the Fashion Shower film. The 2018 AdR Book: Beyond Fashion brought editorial work and personal archives together in a keepsake box with trading cards, a pop-up book and diary extracts.
Passing it on.
Istituto Marangoni appointed Anna Fashion Brand Ambassador and Scientific Director in October 2018, with activities intended to inspire students. More recent work includes styling Coccinelle’s spring/summer 2025 campaign and reporting on the spring/summer 2027 shows for Harper’s Bazaar Italia.
