Mini bio

How it started.

Eva grew up in New York City in a Chinese American family. A Harper’s Bazaar internship drew the aspiring doctor toward fashion; she went on to earn an English degree at Johns Hopkins. Her magazine career took her through ELLE and Teen Vogue.

From editor to Instagram.

Anna Wintour chose Eva to lead Lucky in 2013. In 2015, she joined Instagram to lead fashion partnerships. Fans also came to know her #EvaChenpose, a cab-seat snapshot of shoes, a bag and a piece of fruit.

Stories for young readers.

Her debut picture book, Juno Valentine and the Magical Shoes, arrived in 2018 with illustrations by Derek Desierto and became a New York Times bestseller. With illustrator Sophie Diao, she created I Am Golden, celebrating Chinese American identity, and its board book companion We Are Golden.
