How it started.
Anne traces the foundations of their approach to leadership to AMIGOS. After starting as a volunteer in Guanajuato, Mexico, in the mid-1990s, Anne worked across Latin America and became the organization’s regional director for South America and the Caribbean. Seeing young volunteers change gave Anne a lasting belief in people’s ability to grow.
Building things.
Before becoming a familiar voice on leadership podcasts, Anne led GenePeeks, a computational genomics company developing ways to identify genetic disease risk. Anne later founded The Leadership Consortium to help emerging leaders prepare for senior roles.
From books to the microphone.
Anne and Frances Frei began their shared bookshelf with Uncommon Service in 2012, followed by Unleashed in 2020 and Move Fast & Fix Things in 2023. In April 2023, they brought their advice to TED’s Fixable podcast. Anne also took the TED2023 stage with a five-step plan for solving workplace problems.

Frances is Anne’s wife as well as co-author and co-host. On Fixable, they bring their work as leadership coaches to callers’ everyday challenges, from communication trouble to difficult team dynamics.
