Mini bio
How it started.
Bayashi worked as a personal trainer in Tokyo until the company closed in early 2019. Back home in Gunma, work on the family farm helped pay the bills while Bayashi practiced making videos. YouTube uploads began in October 2019, followed by TikTok in February 2020.
Finding the format.
Short videos brought the first viral response. Bayashi’s official biography describes two and a half years of daily posting. In a Tasting Table interview, Bayashi explained that restricting carbohydrates as a trainer inspired the generous use of meat, cheese and eggs. The cooking is self-taught, with other cooks providing inspiration.
The smile fans recognize.
Bayashi told Tasting Table that early videos were more reserved. Encouraging comments about smiling while eating helped make the expressions bigger. The focus is food entertainment that is enjoyable to make and watch.
Beyond the screen.
A KADOKAWA cookbook followed in March 2022, collecting 31 low-carbohydrate recipes. Bayashi has since worked on projects including Beisia’s shirataki campaign and the Muteki Pan with Kyowa Industry.
