Mini bio

How it started.

Ben started working out as a teenager after a gym opened beside his school. He enjoyed it enough to qualify as a personal trainer and began training clients in 2006. As fat loss became a recurring goal among his clients, he made it a focus of his work.

Reaching more people.

He began sharing content on social media in 2009 to help people beyond his one-to-one clients. His research explainers and myth-busting videos grew into an audience of millions of viewers each week. He describes himself as a research nerd, translating studies into information people can use.

From videos to books.

His 2023 book Everything Fat Loss brought his approach into a longer format, examining popular weight loss methods rather than prescribing one plan for everyone. Fat Loss Habits followed in 2025, concentrating on changes readers can sustain in everyday life.

A shared conversation.

In November 2025, Ben and Sohee Carpenter introduced All or Something. Their podcast extends the conversation to workouts, nutrition and habits, with guests including Liam Layton, Bethany Flores and Dr Karan Rajan.
