Mini bio
How it started.
Growing up in South London, Benjamina loved watching a parent cook and worked through cookbooks bought by their mother. Baking continued alongside an economics degree at Leicester, with cakes made for friends at weekends.
The Bake Off springboard.
A quarter-final place on the 2016 series of The Great British Bake Off opened the door to a full-time food career. Meeting a food stylist while making a cake for a video helped Benjamina see another way to work with food.
Books and a baking community.
The New Way to Cake arrived in 2019, followed by A Good Day to Bake in 2022 and I'll Bring Dessert in 2024. The books explore flavour, everyday baking and desserts to share. Sweet Things brings that approach to a newsletter, alongside a regular Guardian Feast column.
Around the table.
Benjamina is an ambassador for Luminary Bakery, a social enterprise supporting women facing social and economic disadvantage. With sister Bonita, Benjamina also co-founded The Sister Table, hosting brunches that brought women together in London.
