Starting her own channel.
When Great Big Story closed in 2020, she began making videos independently. Her camera and editing experience became the foundation for a food channel built around viewers’ recipes and stories. Viewers send dishes in response to her episode themes, and selected contributors film their own stories. Beryl cooks the dishes in her home kitchen. Her website gathers recipes alongside memories and cultural context, giving fans a way to try what they have watched.
Recipe pen pals.
In 2023, she created Pan Pals with Austin PBS. The series pairs cooks who exchange cherished recipes and learn through making one another’s food. In its Comfort Foods episode, Beryl and Maddy swap Jewish matzo ball soup and Korean sujebi.
