Mini bio

Family recipes.

Candice grew up in North London in the pubs run by her parents, helping with everything from floors to pints. Her nan taught her to bake. Before television, she worked in secondary education, teaching PE and supporting pupils with special educational needs.

Into the tent.

She won The Great British Bake Off in 2016. Her gingerbread pub drew on her family’s world, and she earned Star Baker three times. After the final, she went back to work the next morning and kept the trophy hidden in an antique chest until the result could be shared.

Food for everyday life.

Her first cookbook, Comfort, arrived in July 2017 with sweet and savoury bakes rooted in family favourites. Happy Cooking followed in July 2021, pairing comforting meals and baking with her experience of finding solace in the kitchen.

Behind the bar and beyond.

Candice and her brother Ben took the keys to The Green Man in Eversholt in December 2018. They also run Margo’s in Woburn, named after the grandmother who inspired her baking. Alongside hospitality and live food events, she has captained fundraising treks for CoppaFeel!.
