Mini bio
How it started.
Candice began sharing recipes after going vegan and finding few options for the indulgent food she loved. She told The Vegan Review that requests from her mother and people in her mother’s church group led her to put recipes on a blog. Her YouTube channel followed in 2012.
Comfort food brought people in.
Her vegan versions of familiar favorites became a calling card. A 2016 Canadian Press profile singled out her Big Mac and Buffalo wings among her most popular recipes, and reported that she had left her advertising job the previous October to focus on The Edgy Veg full time.
From videos to cookbooks.
Her first cookbook, The Edgy Veg: 138 Carnivore-Approved Vegan Recipes, arrived in 2017. The 2022 follow-up, The Edgy Veg Easy Eats, collected 106 recipes designed to take less than 45 minutes. It reached the 2023 Taste Canada shortlist for Health or Special Diet Cookbooks.
Beyond the recipe.
Alongside cooking, Candice uses The Edgy Veg to discuss animal advocacy, the environment, mental health and female empowerment. Her more recent videos have mixed everyday vegan meals with reflections on habits and finding joy in daily life.
