Mini bio

How it started.

Grolet began pastry at 13 alongside his grandfather, then trained in France, including at the École Nationale Supérieure de Pâtisserie in Yssingeaux. In 2006 he joined Fauchon in Paris, where his work grew to include helping launch new stores abroad.

Finding his own style.

He joined Le Meurice in 2011 and became its pastry chef in 2012. Working with Alain Ducasse pushed him to develop desserts with a personal identity and less sweetness. His sculpted fruits became a signature: realistic-looking shells that open to reveal layers of pastry and fruit.

From the kitchen to your feed.

Instagram let people around the world watch his work and discover the desserts. In a Michelin interview, he explained that the platform helped him reach new clients and said he took the photographs himself. His first boutique opened with Le Meurice in 2018, the same year he won The World’s Best Pastry Chef award.

Fruits, flowers and further afield.

Cedric Grolet Opéra opened in 2019, pairing viennoiseries with his flower pastries. London followed in 2022 and Singapore in 2023. In 2025, his work expanded to a Monte-Carlo boutique and tea room, followed by a Paris chocolate shop.
