Mini bio

How it started.

Chike’s early public steps came through Project Fame West Africa in 2015 and a runner-up finish on The Voice Nigeria in 2016. Storytelling also reaches back to childhood: in an interview with The NATIVE, Chike remembered an aunt telling bedtime stories and credited Tracy Chapman with helping inspire a love of telling stories through music.

Finding an audience.

Boo of the Booless arrived on Valentine’s Day in 2020, with 14 tracks exploring love and relationships. “Running” later became “Running (To You)”, a duet with Simi whose official video arrived in February 2021. The Brother’s Keeper followed in 2022, widening the sound with highlife, R&B and amapiano influences.

Roots and recognition.

The Brother’s Keeper won Best R&B Album at the 2023 Headies. Chike followed it with Son of Chike in July 2024, a project shaped by Igbo heritage and questions of identity. Its collaborations include MohBad on “Egwu”, LADIPOE on “Unto You”, and Olamide and Amaeya on “One Day”. “Egwu” went on to win the Headies Viewers’ Choice award in 2025.

Inside the songs.

In a 2024 Viper interview, Chike described a creative process that often starts in motion: writing and singing during a drive, then taking the idea into the studio. The same interview named Simi, Flavour, Passenger and Tracy Chapman as inspirations.
