Mini bio

How it started.

Cindy grew up in DeKalb, Illinois, and began modeling in her junior year of high school. Before that, she worked summer jobs detasseling corn. She briefly attended Northwestern to study chemical engineering before pursuing modeling.

The supermodel years.

Her January 1990 British Vogue cover with Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz and Christy Turlington became a defining image of the supermodel era. She also starred in Pepsi’s 1992 Super Bowl commercial, returning to that campaign’s story with Presley Gerber in 2018.

Building her own work.

Cindy developed Meaningful Beauty with Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh after visiting his Paris clinic. Her work also includes Cindy Crawford Home and Becoming, a photographic memoir written with Katherine O’Leary. In 2023, she helped tell the story of her generation of models as a featured participant and executive producer of The Super Models.

Still making new pictures.

Recent work has brought together family collaborations, new beauty campaigns and editorial shoots. In 2025, she and Kaia spoke about their Vuori campaign, and in 2026 she appeared on PORTER’s cover and returned to OMEGA’s headquarters in Switzerland.
