Before the bins.
Clea grew up in Los Angeles and studied at Parsons School of Design in New York. Before The Home Edit, she worked in social media and public relations, focusing on fashion and entertainment.
An instant partnership.
In 2015, Clea and Joanna Teplin founded The Home Edit, combining practical organizing with an eye for design. Clea told Create & Cultivate that they decided to start the business just four hours after meeting.
From shelves to screens.
Their books and Netflix series Get Organized with The Home Edit brought that approach to a wider audience. Clea helped celebrities and everyday clients edit, categorize and contain their belongings, and served as an executive producer on the second season. In 2025, she and Joanna became hosts of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Making room for a harder story.
After a breast cancer diagnosis in March 2022, Clea began sharing the uncertainty and complications alongside the hopeful moments. Her 2025 book Cancer Is Complicated combines memoir with practical guidance for people facing cancer and those supporting them.
A new chapter.
In April 2026, Clea and Joanna announced they had bought The Home Edit back from Hello Sunshine and were launching THE Group Chat newsletter. By June, Clea had moved back to Los Angeles, sharing glimpses of her new home with readers.
