Mini bio
Before the business videos.
Codie grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, with a father who ran a granite business and a mother who taught special education. She studied journalism at Arizona State University and contributed to Divided Families, a student reporting project about families separated by the U.S.-Mexico border.
Learning the language of money.
She moved into finance, working at firms including Vanguard, Goldman Sachs, State Street, and First Trust. Along the way, buying small businesses became a way to build a career beyond the finance industry.
Finding her audience.
With Contrarian Thinking, Codie turned that experience into content, education, and a community around business ownership. Her focus on laundromats, car washes, and other everyday companies became the thread connecting her online work and her first book, Main Street Millionaire.
The next chapter.
BigDeal gives her room for longer conversations about business, work, and ambition. Her second book, Own or Be Owned, shifts the question from how to buy a company to how to build one that can function without its owner doing everything.
