Mini bio
How it started.
Colleen grew up in Santa Barbara and studied vocal performance at Azusa Pacific University. She began posting Miranda Sings videos in 2008. The character turned an overconfident, off-key singer into a comedy act, with smeared red lipstick and absolute belief in her own talent.
Finding an audience.
The 2009 video “Free Voice Lesson” helped Miranda break out. Colleen took the character into live shows, then books and television. She co-created and starred in Netflix’s Haters Back Off, published Selp-Helf and My Diarrhe in Miranda’s voice, and made her Broadway debut as Dawn in Waitress in 2019.
A public reckoning.
In 2023, former fans accused Colleen of inappropriate conversations and interactions when they were minors. She denied grooming allegations in a widely criticized musical response, then returned to vlogging that November and apologized for hurt caused by some fan interactions and for how she had responded.
What she shares now.
Her current work includes everyday videos on Colleen Vlogs and RELAX!, the conversation podcast she hosts with her husband, Erik Stocklin. In 2026, City Winery listed PITY PARTY! shows combining comedy, songs and personal storytelling.
