Born in North Carolina while his father served in the military, Criollo grew up mainly in Wahiawa, Hawaii. Summer trips to Puerto Rico connected him with his parents’ culture and its food.

Working in a dining facility sparked his love of cooking for others. Social media gave him a way to share that interest with more people.
