How it started.
Dan’s first creator experiments included a fitness YouTube channel with a college friend at Arizona State University. Photography led him into Photoshop and digital art before web design became his route into paid work.
Finding his audience.
After working at a web design agency, Dan built a freelance business around landing pages and email funnels. He then shared what he knew on Twitter and created courses. That combination of practical skills and personal interests became the basis of his independent creator business.
A wider reach.
His video How To Get Ahead Of 99% Of People (In 6-12 Months) became a standout. In a 2026 letter, Dan described it as his best-performing video at 1.7 million views and traced its idea back to a post he wrote in 2019.

The Art of Focus brings together his ideas about attention, meaning and creating a life of your own. Purpose & Profit explores work and money, with a free PDF available from his site. He also co-founded Eden, the software project that grew out of Kortex.
