How it started.

Dan grew up around Italian American and Portuguese American family cooking. Before food became his work, he built a career in design and worked as senior creative director at Ann Taylor. His annual holiday cookie party in 2019 prompted him to think seriously about a career centered on cooking.

Finding his people.

He began focusing his Instagram on food in early 2020. During lockdown, cooking every day gave him more to share, and followers connected with his approachable home cooking. His glossy Vodka Sawce became a signature. In April 2020, he created This Too Shall Pasta merchandise to support SAGE and LGBTQ+ elders.

From recipes to gatherings.

His first cookbook, Let’s Eat, came out in 2023 with 101 recipes and family stories. Let’s Party followed in 2025, organizing recipes into complete menus for gatherings. Both became New York Times bestsellers. Alongside his own site, Dan contributes recipes to New York Times Cooking and appears on Good Morning America.
