Mini bio

How it started.

Before writing about work, Pink worked in government, including as Al Gore’s chief speechwriter from 1995 to 1997. He then struck out on his own. His first book, Free Agent Nation, explored the rise of people working for themselves.

The books that traveled.

A Whole New Mind brought creativity, empathy, and meaning into his account of the changing workplace. Drive followed with a framework built around autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Drive spent 159 weeks on the New York Times bestseller lists, including the extended lists.

Pink also hosted and co-executive produced National Geographic’s Crowd Control. In July 2024, he introduced Daniel Pink TV, gathering Pinkcasts, speeches, and animations on YouTube. His newer videos turn research into questions fans can use in everyday life.

What he is exploring now.

His 2026 videos revisit motivation, test AI as a tool for self-reflection, and ask which human skills matter as technology changes. A March video with David Epstein explores why creative ideas often arrive away from the desk.
