Mini bio
How it started.
Before fans knew DEAN’s voice, they may already have heard the songs. Working as Deanfluenza, Kwon Hyuk wrote for acts including EXO, Block B and VIXX. Their early musical life included a hip-hop crew with Keith Ape at 16, followed by songwriting as a teenager.
Finding a voice.
DEAN stepped forward as a solo artist in 2015 with the English-language “I’m Not Sorry,” featuring Eric Bellinger. The debut EP 130 Mood: TRBL followed in 2016, bringing together “Pour Up,” “what2do,” “Bonnie & Clyde” and “D (Half Moon).” It became the foundation of their wider recognition as an R&B artist.
Songs that stayed.
The 2017 single “instagram” turned the unease of comparing your life with other people’s posts into a song. It topped Korean music charts. Collaborations with artists such as Syd and Anderson .Paak also became part of DEAN’s path between Korean and English-language R&B.
A new chapter.
After more than four years between solo releases, DEAN returned with “DIE 4 YOU” in November 2023. The next chapter brought the FKJ collaboration 3:33, followed by “Nocturne 07” with Miso and a reunion with Anderson .Paak on “Aftertaste.”
