How it started.
Emeka moved from Nigeria to the UK as a child and grew up in East Kent. He has linked his choice of medicine to family losses and a wish for better access to healthcare. His first TV series was Junior Doctors: Blood, Sweat and Tears in 2017.
Finding his audience.
During the pandemic, he combined hospital work with health videos on TikTok. His Black Lives Matter video contrasting his scrubs with a hoodie reached a worldwide audience. His agency describes his approach as making medical explanations accessible to everyday viewers.
Beyond the feed.
Your Health in Your Hands turned questions from his online community into a book about preventative health. He also brings health discussions to television and charity campaigns, including WaterAid’s work on hygiene in healthcare facilities.
