Mini bio

How it started.

Born in New Delhi, Bawa studied English literature at the University of Delhi and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte before attending Nova Southeastern University’s osteopathic medical school. She completed emergency medicine training at South Pointe Hospital/Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

A change of direction.

Her own disappointing hair transplant experience helped steer her toward hair restoration, aesthetics, and regenerative treatments. She opened Bawa Medical in Boca Raton in 2019 and made sexual wellness a central part of her work.

Finding her audience.

Bawa says questions arriving by email, phone, and social media prompted her to start Dr. Sex Fairy. The podcast began with a November 2021 preview, followed by conversations about sexual health and relationships. Her public work later included a 2024 TEDxBocaRaton talk and interviews about making intimacy easier to discuss.

A personal cause.

During breast cancer treatment, Bawa entered a pageant and became Ms. Florida U.S. Continental 2021. In a first-person interview, she described wanting to encourage other patients and spoke about supporting the American Cancer Society’s ResearcHERS initiative.
