How it started.
Idriss entered a seven-year medical program after applying at 17. Drawn to the mix of medicine and aesthetics, Idriss trained at George Washington University and Tufts Medical Center before building a dermatology career in New York.
From the clinic to the pillow.
In 2018, Idriss began filming skincare videos from bed after seeing patients arrive worried about misinformation online. Patients shared the clips, questions poured in, and PillowtalkDerm grew into a community of skin nerds. The appeal was a doctor willing to explain the science in plain language.
Building something of their own.
Idriss opened a practice in 2021 and launched PillowtalkDerm skincare in 2022, later known as Dr. Idriss. The debut Major Fade system focused on discoloration, a personal subject after experiencing melasma during pregnancy. Teaching expanded into Skin Health on MasterClass in 2025.
