Mini bio
How it started.
Gary’s family moved from Belarus to the United States in 1978. After childhood lemonade stands and baseball-card sales, he joined the family liquor store at fourteen. He and his father renamed it Wine Library and launched its website in 1996.
Finding his audience.
Wine Library TV began in 2006, bringing his direct, informal wine reviews to the internet. His 2008 Web 2.0 keynote helped open the door to a HarperCollins book deal. In 2009, he published Crush It! and co-founded VaynerMedia with his brother AJ.
Building in public.
#AskGaryVee brought audience questions into the conversation in 2014, and DailyVee began documenting his working life in 2015. He created VeeFriends in 2021. His later books include Day Trading Attention and the children’s picture book Meet Me in the Middle, whose two-sided format lets readers follow Eager Eagle and Patient Pig’s different perspectives.
