Mini bio
How it started.
Grace grew up in High Wycombe and began YouTube in 2011 under the name The Ugly Face of Beauty. Makeup and fashion were the starting point, before more personal conversations about body image and mental health became central to the channel.
Finding a wider audience.
Their direct, supportive approach earned the nickname “the Internet’s Big Sister”. In 2016, Grace took that curiosity to BBC Three with Clean Eating’s Dirty Secrets, investigating the claims behind the clean-eating trend. No Filter followed in 2017, combining personal experiences with advice about accepting yourself.
Books and advocacy.
Grace’s second book, How To Calm It, arrived through #Merky Books in January 2021 with practical exercises for understanding your thoughts and caring for yourself. Their work also includes a Happiful column and mental health advocacy as a Mind ambassador.
Life today.
After surviving severe Covid-19 and a coma following the birth of their first child, Grace has spoken publicly about recovery and PTSD. Now a parent of two, they continue to share fashion and the realities of motherhood, with recent podcast conversations exploring identity, recovery and body confidence.
