Mini bio

How it started.

HIKAKIN grew up in Niigata and began beatboxing seriously in their second year of junior high school. After high school, they moved to Tokyo for a supermarket job, recording videos at night in a company dormitory. A small bathroom became a recording space where they could keep the noise down.

The breakthrough.

The HIKAKIN channel opened in December 2006. Super Mario Beatbox, uploaded on June 17, 2010, brought their performance to a much wider audience. In a later interview, HIKAKIN recalled tearing up on a train platform while watching the views rise on the way to work.

Making room for more.

HikakinTV followed in July 2011, with product introductions and challenges; HikakinGames and HikakinBlog arrived in 2013. Beatboxing also led to performances with Aerosmith and Ariana Grande. HIKAKIN became a UUUM founder and chief adviser, while keeping a wide range of videos at the center of their work.

Music and the dinner table.

HIKAKIN and older brother SEIKIN made their music debut with YouTube Theme Song in 2015. SEIKIN writes and composes the duo’s songs. HIKAKIN later developed Misokin, which first launched in May 2023, and introduced the ONICHA tea brand in 2026 through BEE.
