Mini bio
How it started.
Home Free began in Mankato, Minnesota, in 2001. Brothers Chris and Adam Rupp and Matt Atwood formed the group, which grew from a hobby into full-time work by 2007. Their name came from a boat owned by Atwood’s grandfather, an early financial supporter.
The TV turning point.
They won season four of NBC’s The Sing-Off on December 23, 2013, earning a recording contract and $100,000. Crazy Life followed in 2014, introducing more listeners to their mix of country singing and all-vocal arrangements.
Songs to come back to.
Their catalog includes “Ring of Fire” with Avi Kaplan, “Elvira” with the Oak Ridge Boys and the 2021 “Sea Shanty Medley.” So Long Dixie reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Current Country Albums chart in 2022, according to the band’s official biography.
The next chapter.
Adam Bell-Bastien joined in 2024 as Austin Brown departed. The group released Challenge the Sea in September 2025, expanded it with a deluxe edition in June 2026 and followed with 90’s Country Mixtape, Vol. 1 in October 2026.
