Mini bio

Before the camera.

Jamie grew up in Canada before moving to the Scottish village of Dollar at 15. Studies at the University of Aberdeen and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama came before acting, then a career in menswear. Jamie is now based in Northern Ireland.

Finding a way in.

Working behind the scenes at DAKS and Drake’s helped Jamie move into photography. Self-taught and inspired by the images circulating on Tumblr, Jamie began freelancing with early work for Trunk Clothiers and Permanent Style. Instagram became a way to build a portfolio and reach new clients.

People behind the clothes.

The 2019 book This Guy pairs menswear portraits with a closer look at the lives of the people wearing the clothes. Jamie’s photography also appears in The Style Guide, followed by The Casual Style Guide, co-written with Simon Crompton in 2024. The latter combines street photographs with both authors’ observations on outfits.

A place to write.

Jamie launched That Dusty Heat in January 2025 after discovering a writing voice while working on The Casual Style Guide. Alongside street photographs and wardrobe reviews, the newsletter has become a home for interviews, travel reports and stories from shoots. Clients listed on Jamie’s website include WM Brown, MR PORTER, Polo Ralph Lauren and Tracksmith.
