Mini bio

How it started.

Jane’s grandmother kept cookbooks filled with notes and adaptations, and helped spark a love of baking. Jane chose cookery school over university, trained at Ashburton Chefs Academy in 2014, and started Jane’s Patisserie that November. Blogging became a full-time job in February 2018.

The bakes that brought people in.

The blog gives home bakers recipes for cookies, celebration cakes and no-bake cheesecakes, alongside savoury cooking. Its NYC Chocolate Chip Cookies followed a trip to New York, where Jane tried Levain Bakery’s cookies. No-Bake Biscoff Cheesecake is another recipe included among the blog favourites in the debut cookbook.

From blog to bookshelf.

The first Jane’s Patisserie cookbook arrived in August 2021. Penguin describes it as the fastest-selling baking book of all time. Celebrate!, Everyday, Easy Favourites and Classic followed, and the publisher lists all five as instant Sunday Times bestsellers.

What’s next.

Jane continues publishing recipes on the blog. As of 2 November 2026, Jane’s Patisserie Christmas is available to pre-order, with publication scheduled for 5 November. It covers festive desserts, party bakes and edible gifts.

Trivia

  1. Classmates helped choose the blog’s name: patisserie was Jane’s highest-marked section at cookery school.
  2. Jane says four is a lucky number, making the debut book’s reported opening sales of 44,444 copies especially memorable.
  3. Before blogging full time, Jane worked as a barista and in administration, finance, customer service and Christmas grotto recruitment.
  4. Jane waited until after trying cookies in New York before publishing the NYC Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe.
