Mini bio

How it started.

Fascinated by flavours, textures and smells from childhood, Jean-Philippe studied cooking and spent years in restaurant kitchens. Travels in Asia helped shape a growing interest in cooking with plants; the move to vegan eating developed gradually alongside that restaurant career.

From the kitchen to your screen.

Through La Cuisine de Jean-Philippe, Jean-Philippe began sharing practical vegan recipes with a wider audience. The first French cookbook arrived in 2017. English-speaking readers know the same creator as The Buddhist Chef, whose self-titled cookbook followed in 2019.

Comfort food, shared.

The books draw on family cooking, travel and restaurant skills. Vegan Comfort Cooking takes inspiration from cooking with a grandmother, while Homestyle Cooking focuses on dishes to share. Alongside the recipes and books, Jean-Philippe has brought a mix of food stories and humour to the stage with Drôlement végane.
