Mini bio
How it started.
Jenna Mourey grew up in Rochester, New York, and took an academic route before becoming Jenna Marbles. She studied psychology and earned a master’s in sport psychology and counselling at Boston University. In a 2013 interview with the University Observer, she said she had never tried comedy or stand-up before starting her channel.
The breakout.
Her 2010 video “How to Trick People into Thinking You’re Good Looking” turned beauty advice into a joke about the effort behind looking attractive. It drew more than five million views in its first week. She built a channel around satirical how-to videos, sketches and the ordinary things she could turn into an experiment at home.
Making things together.
Later uploads brought fans into makeup experiments, crafts, cooking and time with her dogs. “I Want To Be Tall,” “Tiny Face Makeup” and “Making A Dog Birthday Cake” capture that playful range. She also co-hosted the Jenna & Julien Podcast with Julien Solomita and hosted The YouTube 15 on SiriusXM Hits 1.
Life after weekly uploads.
In June 2020, Jenna apologized for racist and sexist content in earlier videos and announced an indefinite break from YouTube. The shared podcast ended that August. Julien publicly announced their engagement in April 2021 and shared their wedding photos in December 2022. Recent public updates are limited, so this timeline also includes older releases with their original dates.
