Mini bio
An unexpected start.
Jordan originally wanted to work in immunology and cancer treatment. After missing out on a place in that field, he took a GI physiology training opportunity under Anthony Hobson and became absorbed in how the digestive system works.
Why he started posting.
He began sharing gut-health information on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic. His own experience of orthorexia and restrictive eating helped shape his desire to challenge diet misinformation. As Mr Gut Health, he built an Instagram audience he has described as more than 350,000.
Mediterranuary.
One of his signature projects was a month following the Mediterranean diet in January 2024, with health tests before and after. He called the experiment Mediterranuary and continued sharing Mediterranean-style meals with his audience.
From the clinic to your kitchen.
Alongside his work at The Functional Gut Clinic, Jordan researches gut health in athletes. His 2026 book How to Gut Health brings together explanations of the microbiome, discussion of supplements and more than 40 recipes. He also helped set up Tummy MOT, a free resource reviewing gut-health supplements.
