Mini bio

How it started.

Before the cameras, Josh was a food writer. His college blog, Culinary Bro-Down, paired playful cooking with essays and became a finalist for best writing in Saveur’s 2014 food blog awards. He also competed in track and field at UCLA, including the hammer throw.

From the page to the kitchen.

Josh worked as an associate food editor at Los Angeles magazine and published The Culinary Bro-Down Cookbook in 2017. In an interview with Mashed, he explained that sending a copy to Mythical led to a production job. Occasional appearances in front of the camera grew into hosting as viewers warmed to him.

A table for bigger conversations.

Mythical Kitchen launched in 2020, and Josh’s work now spans cooking challenges, cookbooks and the food-debate podcast A Hot Dog Is a Sandwich with Nicole Enayati. On Last Meals, he prepares guests’ chosen final meals and uses the food to talk about their memories, lives and mortality.

Food fans can make at home.

The Mythical Cookbook followed in 2024, bringing recipes from the Mythical world into home kitchens. Its dishes include Josh’s Perfect Steak Burrito, Grilled Cheese Ramen and Pop Tart Lava Cakes.
