Mini bio

How it started.

Kabita told Slurrp that cooking began with lessons from her mother at around seven or eight. A banking job put that interest in the background. After marrying and moving to the UK in 2009, cooking for her family brought it back. Once the family returned to India in 2014 and her son started school, she had time to begin Kabita’s Kitchen.

Finding an audience.

HerStory’s interview traces an early spark to helping an artist friend with video editing. Kabita then taught herself through YouTube tutorials and filmed an aloo-bhindi recipe. Bread gulab jamun became the breakout: a familiar sweet made with bread, explained in steps viewers could follow at home.

Beyond the home kitchen.

Kabita told Slurrp that the channel reached a million subscribers in early 2017. In 2024, the National Creators Award recognised Kabita as Best Creator in Food Category. The next year brought a contestant role on Celebrity MasterChef. In 2026, Sun Siyam Olhuveli announced a cooking collaboration built around vegetarian and plant-forward Indian dishes.
