Meet the band.
Karakoram make alternative rock in Lahore, Pakistan. Their official biography lists Sherry Khattak on vocals and guitar, Omair Farooq on bass, Bilawal Lahooti on drums, and Zain Peerzada and Annan Noukhez on guitars. Their sound moves between heavy rock and spacious, melodic arrangements.
How it started.
Before Karakoram’s October 2018 debut single Toofaan, members had worked on Nescafe Basement and played sessions for artists including Call, Fawad Khan and Meesha Shafi. Their debut album Ailaan-e-Jang followed on February 21, 2021. Its nine tracks were recorded at Xth Harmonic Studios in Lahore, with mixing and production by Zulfiqar J. Khan, also known as Xulfi.
A wider audience.
Their 2022 Coke Studio appearance, Ye Dunya with Talha Anjum and Faris Shafi, brought new listeners back to the band’s earlier work. Sherry said that experience encouraged them to pursue more collaborations. They went on to record Kyun with Hasan Raheem, reinterpret Queen’s A Kind of Magic with Eva B, and make Gol Chakkar with guitarist Faraz Anwar.
