Mini bio

How it started.

Becker began helping at her local humane society at 13 and became a state-licensed wildlife rehabilitator at 14. Animal care became her career: she graduated from Iowa State’s veterinary college in 1997 and opened an animal hospital in 1999.

From the clinic to the screen.

She turned to social media to reach more pet owners than she could see in a clinic. Nutrition, daily routines and the home environment became recurring subjects in her educational work.

The Forever Dog years.

Her collaboration with Rodney Habib brought The Forever Dog in 2021, a number-one New York Times bestseller. The Forever Dog Life followed in 2024 with more than 120 recipes and ideas for pet-friendly homes. They also host Inside Scoop, a community built around pet-health discussions and expert interviews.

Beyond publishing.

Becker co-founded the Companion Animal Nutrition and Wellness Institute, which supports independent nutrition research. In 2023, Iowa State recognized her with its Stange Award for Meritorious Service.
