Mini bio
How it started.
Before Cafe Delites, Karina taught dance and Zumba. After Hodgkin’s lymphoma and endometriosis disrupted that career, cooking and food photography became a way to cope. Cafe Delites began in 2014 after a recipe went viral and readers asked for more.
Built with family.
Karina built the site with their young daughter helping film videos. Their mother, Ana, known as Bela, has also helped with preparation and filming. Latin roots continue to shape the recipes.
Beyond the recipes.
In 2013, Karina published Liberation, a memoir about living through Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The publisher describes its aim as raising lymphoma awareness and helping others affected by cancer.
Finding their way back.
On the official About page, Karina describes stepping away from the cameras for a three-year hiatus to focus on physical and mental health, then returning with a renewed appreciation for food and self-care.
