Mini bio
How it started.
Lara taught herself front-end development. By 2014, she had managed Etsy’s mobile web engineering team and moved on to its performance engineering team. Her first book, Designing for Performance, connected design choices with page speed and the experience of the people using a website.
From engineering to helping leaders.
Her career grew to include Engineering Director at Etsy and VP of Engineering at Kickstarter, as well as a later VP role at Fly.io. As a founder of Wherewithall, she turned that experience into coaching, workshops, and training for managers, including support through role changes and organizational upheaval.
Books you can put to work.
Demystifying Public Speaking helps readers prepare for everything from team meetings to conference stages. Resilient Management brings together tools for understanding teammates, giving feedback, setting expectations, and building a support network. Her blog continues that practical approach with worksheets and examples managers can try.
