Mini bio

A kitchen connection.

Laura grew up cooking with her grandmother in Naples. After moving to the United States at 12, she kept that connection alive through family recipes and worked in her father’s pizzeria. Cooking her nonna’s food helped her feel at home in a new country.

Starting again online.

When her father’s restaurants closed, Laura needed a new outlet for cooking. Her husband, Joe, built a studio kitchen in their basement and encouraged her to make videos. Laura in the Kitchen began in January 2010 with tomato-and-basil bruschetta. Joe handled filming, editing and production.

From the basement to television.

The cooking videos led to Simply Laura, which debuted on Cooking Channel in September 2014 and ran for two seasons. Her first cookbook, Laura in the Kitchen, followed in October 2015. At My Italian Table, published in February 2024 with Rachel Holtzman, gathers 100 Italian family favorites.

Another seat at the table.

In September 2026, Laura introduced Pass the Plate, a series filmed in her own home for Amazon Live. Its meals finish with friends and family around the table, carrying the family cooking at the heart of her videos into a new show.
