Mini bio
How it started.
Leandra began Man Repeller in 2010 while studying journalism at The New School. Its premise came from shopping with a friend and noticing the clothes they loved that men found unappealing. Her funny, personal approach made room for harem pants, unusual proportions and dressing for your own pleasure.
From blog to a bigger conversation.
Man Repeller grew from her personal blog into a publication with a full editorial team. In 2013, she published Man Repeller: Seeking Love. Finding Overalls., a collection of essays connecting clothes with memories, relationships and growing up. She stepped back from the company in 2020 amid criticism about racism and inclusion; the publication closed later that year.
Beginning again.
In January 2021, she launched The Cereal Aisle. It brings together practical outfit ideas, shopping recommendations and personal essays. In her third-anniversary reflection, she described rebuilding a creative practice from home and finding connection through readers. Her more recent design work includes Integrated Parts, a capsule of tights co-designed with Swedish Stockings.
