Mini bio

How it started.

Liam grew up in Hackney and began baking as a teenager. University friends knew them as “Cake Boy”. While studying drama, Liam entered the 2017 Great British Bake Off and reached the quarter-finals. Baking with their young nephews was already part of a bigger ambition: encouraging younger people to get into the kitchen.

From contestant to presenter.

Liam joined Bake Off: The Professionals as a presenter in 2018 and became a Junior Bake Off judge in 2019. Their own Channel 4 series, Liam Bakes, brought family, friends and East London into the recipes. In a 2025 interview, Liam said studying drama helped prepare them for presenting.

Recipes with personality.

Cheeky Treats arrived in July 2018, followed by Second Helpings in September 2019. The second book brings together 70 sweet and savoury recipes, including chicken katsu doughnuts and rhubarb and custard cheesecake. Liam has also written baking recipes for The Guardian.

Still learning.

Alongside the baking shows, Liam judged the 2022 Platinum Pudding Competition and appeared on The Masked Dancer as Candlestick. In 2026, they returned for a ninth series hosting The Professionals. Their interviews still make room for everyday baking, including making banana loaves at their mum’s request.
