NBCHow it started.
Linus began making product demonstration videos while working at Canadian computer retailer NCIX. Linus Tech Tips launched in 2008, giving that practical hardware curiosity a home of its own.
From a garage to a team.
In 2013, Linus launched Linus Media Group and left NCIX to focus on educational entertainment. The early team worked out of a garage with Luke Lafreniere, Edzel Yago and Brandon Lee. By a 2014 interview, LTT had passed one million subscribers.
What fans come for.
LTT mixes product reviews with PC builds and unusual engineering projects. Scrapyard Wars adds bargain hunting and competition, while The WAN Show makes room for longer conversations about technology. In 2023, Linus moved from CEO to chief vision officer, keeping a creative role in the company.
A wider stage.
Recent work has taken Linus from competing over budget home theater setups to building a Linux PC with Linus Torvalds. The Tonight Show appearances bring the same curiosity about new gadgets to late-night television.
