Mini bio

How it started.

Linus began making product videos while working at Canadian computer retailer NCIX. Linus Tech Tips launched in November 2008, turning hands-on hardware demonstrations into a channel of its own.

From a garage to a team.

Linus Media Group began operating in January 2013 from a garage with Linus, Luke Lafreniere, Edzel Yago and Brandon Lee. By November 2014, Linus Tech Tips had more than a million subscribers. Reviews grew into a wider mix of PC builds, experiments and shows, including Scrapyard Wars and the weekly WAN Show with Luke.

Still making things.

In July 2023, Linus moved from CEO to chief vision officer. The on-camera work continued: building a computer with Linus Torvalds, demonstrating gadgets on The Tonight Show, and working through the practical problems of the Tech House series.
