Mini bio
How it started.
Louie and Shelley Giglio began Choice, a weekly Bible study at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in 1985 after he finished seminary. He has said college ministry was never his original plan. The gathering became the starting point for a life spent teaching young adults.
From campus to Passion.
After moving back to Atlanta in 1995, Louie developed the idea for a national gathering of Christian college students. The first Passion conference took place in Austin in 1997. His official biography says Passion has since gathered more than a million young adults, including more than 55,000 students at its 2024 Atlanta gathering.
A church and a wider creative world.
Passion City Church held its first gathering at Atlanta’s Tabernacle on February 15, 2009. Louie and Shelley also lead teams across Passion’s conferences, publishing, sixstepsrecords, and institute. His sermons and Passion + Purpose interviews give listeners ways to follow that work between gatherings.
Books for adults and curious kids.
His books include Goliath Must Fall and Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table. The children’s devotional Indescribable grew from his talks about faith and the universe, pairing Bible reflections with science and illustrations. How Great Is Our God later won the 2021 ECPA Christian Book Award in Devotion & Gift.
