How it started.
Randy created Made With Lau to preserve his father’s recipes and Cantonese heritage for the next generation. Their first recipe went live on September 1, 2020.
A lifetime in the kitchen.
Chung Sun Lau grew up in Toisan, China, and immigrated to New York in 1981. His career included a Wall Street food cart and a Bay Area restaurant.
Finding their audience.
The channel reached one million YouTube subscribers within two years. In 2024, Made With Lau won a James Beard award for instructional visual media, and Randy received the broadcast Emerging Voice award.

Their cookbook work goes beyond recipes, documenting how to choose and store ingredients and understand a chef’s decisions. Randy shares that process through the family’s newsletter.
