Mini bio

How it started.

Malcom began experimenting with barbecue in his backyard and started competing in 2002. Rachelle encouraged him to build a business around it. Their early work included mixing rub at the kitchen table and shipping orders from a two-car garage.

Finding an audience.

The Reeds started HowToBBQRight in 2007, pairing Malcom’s cooking with Rachelle’s website skills. Recipes and videos grew into a wider community. His 2017 Pork Belly Burnt Ends video has drawn millions of views, and the channel now reaches nearly two million YouTube subscribers.

More than the cook.

Malcom and Rachelle also co-host the HowToBBQRight Podcast, discussing recipes, home cooking and competition barbecue. Their business includes Killer Hogs rubs and sauces and Malcom’s Shop in Hernando.

A place in barbecue history.

The American Royal named Malcom to its 2026 Barbecue Hall of Fame class, recognizing his work in barbecue education and his influence across videos, podcasts, live events and products. In an October 9 podcast episode, the Reeds looked back on the Hall of Fame ceremony.
